9. Terminology and Abbreviations

The first 150 words of the full text of this article appear below.

9.1 General Terminology

CCT, Combined cortical thickness measured in millimeter.

DEXA, Dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (see also DXA).

DPA, Dual-photon absorptiometry using radioisotopic sources.

Dual-energy CT (DECT), A method for scanning the same slice or volume with two different x-ray spectra; by evaluation of the two measured attenuation values for the same ray, specific physical properties of the material can be reconstructed, for example, the electron density and the effective atomic number.

DXA, Dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (manufacturer specific acronyms: DER, DEPR, QDR, and DPX). Two different energy spectra are used.

DXR, Digital x-ray radiogrammetry.

LSC, Least significant change; the change between two measurements that can be measured with 95 % confidence.

Matrix, Two-dimensional arrangement of numbers; in the context of CT, used synonymously with the image . . . [Full Text of this Article]
